Donovan is doing well. He's still eating through a tube but his IV's are
gone and he's breathing on his own.

Still doing OK. He's had episodes of apnea and bradycardia--basically,
low breath and heart rates--so they put him back onto a mildly-pressured
oxygen mix to stimulate him. Lots of preemies have that so hopefully
he'll get past it as his organs and CNS continue to mature. Good news is
he's gaining weight--he's up to about 2 lbs 13 oz. He's also grown about
an inch in length. (It's funny--they keep all their records with metric
measurements, which they read off the page to Kinga, then they
try to figure out the Imperial equivelants but she just goes "No, no,
that's OK, I'm used to the Metric system"--being from Europe and all.)
Speaking of Mom, she's feeling better now. She finally recovering
from the headache
she got from the epidural and her blood pressure is back to a good level.

Not much has changed in the last few days except his weight: he's up to 3 lbs 2 oz.
He's eating about 8 oz of food each day and gaining about an ounce per day.
2/5/2006:
We tried his first bottle feeding today, but he wanted to sleep instead.
We'll post some feeding pics when he gets with the program. :-)

Donnie has moved! He's no longer in an incubator. Since he can maintain his body
termperature, he's now in what the hospital calls a 'crib' which is really more
like a 'shallow tub' and which Kinga refers to as an 'open container.'
Also, being 2/12, it has been exactly one month since he came into the world.
It's hard to believe it's been a month already. Of course, he wasn't supposed to
arrive for yet another month, so when people ask me his age now, I can say "plus
or minus one month." :-)

Sorry for the lack of updates, but we've been busy. The big news: Donnie has moved again--he's home now!
Here are pics from his last weeks in the NICU.
2/18: A visit from Grandma. (Back on the feeding tube temporarily because he wasn't always cooperative about eating from a bottle.)
