My new Honda

I recently bought a 1996 Honda Prelude. I had been looking for a new car for a while. I was in no hurry to get one since my truck ran fine but I wanted something different.

In violation of the grand old weblog tradition, I won't bore you with the excruciating details about how I came to buy this particular car. Short version: it was nice, decent price, and had pretty much everything I was looking for: white, 5-speed, sporty, cloth seats, power windows & locks, tinted windows, and lots of other little stuff. Bonus: power antenna, power mirrors, power sunroof, decent stereo. A few more miles than I would have liked (129k vs. the 112k that's on my truck) but otherwise it's great. It's fun to drive--it feels a lot like my old MR2--and it gets decent mileage. All around, it's a very nice car. As good as I could hope for from a non-Toyota. :-)

Chronology, mostly for myself:

  • Met the guy and saw the car on Thursday, May 5, 2005.
  • Test drove it Saturday or Sunday, May 8 or 9.
  • Waffled for a week.
  • Bought it 5/16.
  • Raced it (16.6/80 mph) Friday, May 20.
